Just a reminder that from update to update your addons tend to start throwing errors because Blizz changes the LUA backend on ya.  Now if you're like me a loooong time ago you changed your settings not to popup those error messages in the middle of your screen (right during a boss fight usually) and so you never know about it.  Those errors, en masse, can have a significant impact on your system performance (lag in Dalaran, slide shows vs. raid fights, etc.)  I just cleared out and updated all of mine and got a HUGE performance improvement so I thought I'd throw out a reminder to everyone.

Don't forget to make a copy of you WTF folder before you start deleting stuff.

By the same token, if you're getting an error from an AddOn that should be working, you can try clearing your WTF folder.  I prefer to actually drill into the folder and select my account name, server, and delete the backup files myself so I can leave certain ones as these are the files that keep up with your settings for AddOns after you close WoW.  Sometimes you'll have an old backup file that will cause an AddOn to throw errors depending on updates to the AddOn.

Completely forgot about that. I usually spend a day reconfiguring everything anyway a couple of weeks after a patch. I only keep my Altoholic data files. Everything else goes.

There's a nice little program that I use to check addons and update them if they are not current: http://www.wowmatrix.com/

It doesn't catch everything but it is a huge time-saver.
